Highlights from Guided Reading and Lesson Planning 101 Workshop
Kathy Griffin, a Scholastic consultant from Oklahoma, shared practical ideas to grow readers during the morning session of the ABCs of Guided Reading. The Guided Reading session was sponsored by Scholastic.

The afternoon session was Guided Reading Lesson Planning 101. Several videos featuring Jan Richardson, the author of " Next Step to Guided Reading" were viewed and discussed. Sixty teachers from the CSRA RESA school districts attended, learned new techniques, and were recipients of great door prizes and new books for their classroom libraries.

"We've got Dendrites!"
In the video below, teachers are participating in a chant taught by Scholastic consultant, Kathy Griffin. It's a fun strategy to help children become aware of their own reading growth.

Highlights of recent updates and releases for
Google for Education

  • Google Classroom app- assignments can now be given to one student or several students. This update supports differentiation easily and efficiently.
  • Parent email for child's updates in google classroom doesn't have to be a gmail address
  • Google Forms can now predict possible questions types and suggest potential responses
  • New Google Sites platform available for everyone
  • By having access to templates directly from Drive, it's easier to create files from templates in Docs, Forms, Slides and Sheets

(Think about creating separate classes in google classroom for enrichment or remediation within a rostered class.
Create a class for groups other than your rostered classes, for example: a PL class in your school, a reading/book club, a team you coach, Science Club, Technology Club, or Math Competition Team. It's an efficient way to share information and important documents.)
